Iceland: March 15, 2013

Our final day of the tour had us up for the sunrise in the Vik area. On the ride back to Reykjavik, we stopped at two popular waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Once in the city we grabbed a quick dinner and then set out for a last spectacular night of the aurora. Returning at 3:30 am I was surprised to see the Friday’s revelers still in the streets going strong. All too much for me after having put in a 21 hour day.

As noted in an earlier post, finding a unique shot of the Sea Stacks around Vik can be a challenge. We had the area to ourselves at sunrise and early morning, except for a film crew that seemed to appear right after we did. By the time we started back to Reykjavik,  nearly one hundred people with cameras stretched across the beach.
