Tuscan Countryside

In May we, the usual suspects, spent a week in Tuscany. The warm sun, delicious food and tasty wine came in stark contrast to February’s shivering in a fishing hut, making toast using a frying pan, on the arctic coast of Norway. Finally, we took a trip that bordered on luxurious.

Staying in San Quirico d’Orcia gave us quick drives to many hilltop villages. It also meant an easy stroll each morning to capture the fog as it built up around Bellvedere. At the start of the week, the weather was quite changeable, though predictable. The clouds would build up to a late afternoon shower and a spectacular rainbows before sunset. The later part of the week had us wishing for a cloud or two to add some interest.

I divided the Tuscany photos into two posts, this set samples some of the beautiful countryside and poppies; the next set features the villages we visited. For more images and prints please visit my Tuscany Gallery
