The terminus of the glacier is 3 miles (5 km) wide and height of 240 feet (74 m) above Lago Argentino.\u00a0The glacier pushes toward the land here creating a dam between two sections of Largo Argentino. The water level builds up and eventually ruptures at the point where you can see the narrow channel in the photos.
