To kickoff the day <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bartramsgarden.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bartram&#8217;s Garden<\/a> in Philadelphia hosted a special media event. Having &#8220;30 gardens in 30 miles&#8221; Philadelphia promotes itself as <em>America&#8217;s Garden Capital<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Casey Sclar, executive director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicgardens.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Public Gardens Association<\/a>, commenting on the some unique gardens in the area&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere are &nbsp;ones, like&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jenkinsarboretum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jenkins Arboretum<\/a>&nbsp;(Devon, Pa.),<a href=\"http:\/\/www.welkinweir.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Welkinweir<\/a>&nbsp;(near Pottstown), and even the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shofuso.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shofuso Japanese House<\/a>&nbsp;that\u2019s located in nearby Fairmount Park, where you can get out and really get away with your&nbsp;family&nbsp;for the day.&nbsp; But each one of them has something particular, something special that none of the others have.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bartram&#8217;s Garden sits on property purchased in 1728 by John Bartram. He traveled around the colonies gathered seeds and plant&nbsp;species&nbsp;for&nbsp;propagation.
