A glacier pushed the boulders into the St. Peter’s Village area thousands of years ago. For centuries the French Creek winds its way through the rocks, wearing the granite smooth. The winter ice expands as it freezes creating fissures in the rock, splitting it eventually to make a new space for the spring’s flow.
