Lofoten 2016: First Week

In February we returned to the Lofoten archipelago in Norway. Though located above the Arctic circle, the temperature remains near the freezing mark even in February, due to the warmer air coming up the Gulf Stream and across the Norwegian Sea. The weather is also very changeable because of the sea as well. For the first week we were based out of Sakrisoy and used the same fishing hut that we had two years ago. The rorbuer, a short walk to a few of the iconic Lofoten views, gives us great access to Reine and the southern portion of Lofoten. If you ever visit the area, I recommend having dinner at the Reine Rorbeur AS, as chef Karsten prepares wonderful traditional meals.

Prints and copies of these images can be found in my Lofoten Gallery.
