American Southwest: Monument Valley

No matter how I have tried, I cannot describe a photo trip to the American Southwest without writing “iconic view”. Boy do you get them in Monument Valley, one of the natural settings that Hollywood loves to use. Most remember these buttes from movies or in the images of great landscape photographers. We enjoyed the grandness of the Navajo Nation’s park and paid visit to places where Adams planted his tripod. The overnight trip up to Hunts Mesa provided outstanding opportunities for sunset and sunrise shots. The ride is a bit harrowing and requires a skilled guide and driver. I only wish we could have explored the canyons at the base of Hunts Mesa.

More photos and prints are available in my Southwest United States Gallery.
