Light at Sunrise

As part of the Upper Uwchlan camera club theme “Light makes the image”, I am continuing to dig through my archive for this month’s submission. Sunrise often provides the best light for photography offering long shadows and deep colors. Often it may be the only color of the day, as in the completely grey day that started with a blaze of glory in Nantmeal. The Iceland and Grand Canyon photos contrast the rays of the rising sun with the land’s shadows that just start to come awake. The first Antarctic image was actually sunset which was only 45 minutes prior to the other two photos. While one tends to be predisposed to think of the Antarctic as monochromatic, the light seems to paint so many hues across the clouds, sky and snow.
